So the latest release from DJ Hybrid’s Deep In The Jungle records has landed, this time around welcoming back the talented Epicentre with a 5 track slammer of an E.P full to the brim of dancefloor shakers! Buy link is at the end of the review.

DEM VIBEZ

The title track of the E.P starts of with some nice Old Skool harmonies before the drums kick into a retro style intro. On the drop its all going off big time! Notorious B I G lyrics accompany the Jungle Drums and Bass neatly and adds to the mid 90’s flavour of the track. There’s a sweet switch of the bassline in this tune and it rolls on with hints of early Jungle flavours throughout, cushty.

I LIKE DOPE

This track is a little corker! Nice tight subdued little Roller this one, with enough meat in the low end to shake the speaker stacks loose, scattered with vocal samples and lots of intricate sound placement, this one is perfect for the start of a DJ set building up the vibes.

FEATHERWEIGHT

Coming in with a nice steppy intro, big LL Cool J sample, then the drop leads us into a punchy bassline skanker with some tuff drums on the loose, definitely one to keep the party moving in the right direction with its 80’s style synth action aswell…

SWEET DREAMS

Starting off with a bit of a floaty intro, for a few seconds you could be tricked into thinking we’re about to take a trip into liquid DnB, then a spooky vocal ‘Sweet dreams are made of these’ comes in followed by a tight but polite filtered drum roll and vocal effect and we’re rolling! A fine example of Epicentre’s work, one for the early morning ravers, one of those tracks that’s easy on the ear, whilst still packing a weighty punch, that you can lose yourself in effortlessly…

WATCH YOUR BACK

Finishing of the review with my favourite track of the release, Watch your back is a downright dirty little sounding scoundrel, one for the MC’s to do their thing to. Top drawer stripped back DnB that rolls on effortlessly accompanied by some lovely, atmosphere creating gothic sounds this one’s gona be on my USB sticks for a good while this year for sure! Love the whole feel of this track it’s definitely what I would call a dancefloor enhancer!
