David Boomah
David Boomah is a multifaceted artist whose career spans singing, songwriting, DJing, label management, and radio hosting. Born in Birmingham and raised in St. Catherine, Jamaica, he grew up immersed in music, performing in church and at school concerts before joining the local sound system Small Axe, where he honed his vocal style and stage presence.
Returning to the UK in the early 1990s, Boomah quickly made his mark on the London reggae and dancehall scene, performing alongside leading artists and opening for the British Reggae Awards. By 1993, the rise of jungle transformed his musical direction. Teaming up with SHY FX and UK Apachi, he brought his signature vocal style to tracks like Who Run Tings, which soared to the top of the UK charts, cementing his place in the jungle and drum & bass community.
Over the years, David Boomah has collaborated with a who’s who of reggae, dancehall, and drum & bass artists, including Marcus Visionary and Curtis Lynch, continually blending roots influences with contemporary bass music. His debut album, One World Many Cultures, showcased his evolution as a producer and earned critical acclaim, while his tracks have featured in films and on festival stages from Glastonbury to Boomtown, One Love, and Gurten Festival.
A committed community figure, Boomah balances his extensive music career with work as a youth mentor, staying true to the values that underpin his artistry. Versatile and unbounded by genre, he continues to leave his mark across drum & bass, dubstep, and breaks, making every sound unmistakably his own.
