With their impossibly infectious mix of Balkan dance beats, jazz, ska, tango, punk, reggae, each member of the quintet (trumpet/melodica, sax, guitar, bass, & drums) is absurdly accomplished – and they all sing too, sometimes all at once. The Baghdaddies give 110 per cent in a show that manages to be both super-tight yet spontaneous fun. This band from the souk-infested, mint tea-drinking side of Newcastle even gets the audience clapping along in seven-eight time’, and it’s a testament to their funky skills that they make such complex rhythms irresistibly accessible to one and all.

Billy Rowan, aka The Undercover Hippy, is definitely not your average singer songwriter. His music brings together acoustic guitar, soulful vocals, infectious reggae rhythms, and the lyrical delivery of a skilled mc. After 7 years spent DJ’ing and MC’ing on the Drum & Bass circuit, Billy swapped the decks for a guitar and started out as a solo act in 2007. He now usually plays with a full band, mixing guitars, keys, drums, bass, percussion and backing vocals to create a high energy, interactive and highly entertaining live show however we’ve got him down for a back to his roots solo show.
