DJ Aphrodite, born Gavin King, is one of the defining forces in UK jungle and drum & bass. From the late 1980s onward, he has been at the forefront of the scene, helping shape the sound that made jungle a global phenomenon. Known for his signature jump‑up style, his music fuses heavy basslines, infectious breakbeats, and touches of reggae and hip-hop, creating tracks that hit hard on any dancefloor.

Aphrodite first gained attention as part of the breakbeat duo Urban Shakedown, whose track Some Justice became a rave classic. He quickly established himself as a solo artist and producer, releasing a string of influential tracks that defined the energy and style of drum & bass in the 1990s. Through his label Aphrodite Recordings and collaborations with Micky Finn under Urban Takeover, he introduced new talent and helped push the genre forward while staying true to its underground roots.

On the decks, Aphrodite is a master of reading a crowd, blending timeless classics with cutting-edge tracks to deliver sets that are powerful, precise, and relentlessly energetic.
